Halloween at Tokyo Disneyland 2015

If you like Disney and Halloween, then Halloween at Tokyo Disneyland is a great way to experience the best of both worlds. The Halloween season runs from early September until the end of October each year. The best part is that in the first and last week of the season, adults are allowed to dress in Disney themed costumes. In this post we’ll look at some of the costumes, cosplays, and decorations from Tokyo Disneyland’s Halloween 2015.

Halloween has always been my favourite season at Tokyo Disney Resort (TDR). As a big fan of costume events, I can’t go past a theme park full of people in costumes. The effort that people go to is impressive, and in the lead-up to Halloween, there are more people in costume than not at Tokyo Disneyland. In fact, The Japan Times cites Tokyo Disneyland as a key force behind sudden rise in popularity of Halloween in Japan, which sounds plausible given that Halloween has been big at TDR for quite a few years now, whereas Halloween has only caught on as a big event in Tokyo in the past three or so years.

Upon arriving at Tokyo Disneyland, there are Halloween displays out the front of the park. These are designed to fit with the theme of the paticular year. Tokyo Disneyland’s Halloween 2015 theme was “Halloween Fair”. I felt that the Halloween decorations were a little toned down at Tokyo Disneyland in 2015 – and even moreso at DisneySea.

A great place to spot plenty of Disney Princesses is right out the front of the park, just after you enter through the ticket gates.

Another popular spot for photos is, of course, in front of Cinderella’s castle.

For Tokyo Disneyland’s Halloween 2015, I dressed as Tinker Bell. It can get a little chilly at Disneyland in late October, so I made a long-sleeved dress. I also decided not to wear wings, as I like to keep my costumes fairly practical so that I can enjoy my day at Disneyland.

I decided to join in, too. They were good sports. Funnily enough, I saw them again in Shibuya on Halloween night, in different costumes. It’s a small world! Alas, it was too crowded to get a photo worth sharing.

Above: My partner and I spent a couple of nights in a newly renovated room at Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta for our Disney Halloween 2015 adventure. Not only is it a beautiful hotel, but the convenience of being able to get into costume and just hop on the monorail to Disneyland is just great.

In the next post we’ll look at Halloween 2015 at Tokyo DisneySea.
