Odaiba Takoyaki Museum: a street food theme park

Odaiba Takoyaki Museum is a food theme park dedicated to – you guessed it – takoyaki. What is Takoyaki? It’s a delicious Japanese street food made of diced octopus in seasoned batter, lightly fried in special pans to make dumpling-like balls which are then covered with sauce, mayo and other seasonings. Hello Kitty Diner: Australia opens a world first for Sanrio

The world’s first Hello Kitty themed diner opened recently, and it’s in Australia. Writing about a restaurant in Sydney is a little off topic here at Appetite For Japan, but how can I not write about a Hello Kitty themed eatery in my very own hometown? And after all, it’s Sanrio, so it has a Japanese connection. We ordered a tonne of food at the Sydney’s first Hello Kitty restaurant to see how it measures up!

Christmas is one of Tokyo Disney Resort’s biggest seasons, running from early November through to Christmas Day 25 December each year. Kirin Ichiban-shibori Garden Brewery Experience: a beer garden in Shibuya

The Kirin Ichiban-shibori Garden Brewery Experience is/was a mobile Kirin beer garden located in Shibuya. We stumbled upon it whilst looking for Ivorish (an amazing French toast cafe which I’ll write about in a future post) during our trip in October/November 2014. Being a ‘mobile’ beer garden, I’m not sure how long it was there for, but with the weather still warm when we visited, it was a welcome find for an evening drink.

Robots Unrivalled? Japan Unrivalled by Contiki’s Robot Restaurant in Sydney

Whilst this blog is largely dedicated to aspects of Japan that you’ll find in Japan itself, this time I’m going to write about a slice of Japan that took place in none other than Sydney, Australia this week.
